Project: The Shrouded House in Jan Juc, Surf Coast

Lifespaces Group is delighted to commence building the Shrouded House in Jan Juc on the Surf Coast next month (September 2025).

Set just moments from the iconic Jan Juc back beach, this upcoming build is a bespoke modification of our Shrouded House, being reimagined to reflect our client’s unique aesthetic and lifestyle.

Auhaus Architecture conceived the Shrouded House as a refined, compact double storey home with an inner courtyard forming the focal point of the design, providing a secondary garden aspect when coupled with a rear garden.

In its original design, the Shrouded House is known for its contrast of light and heavyweight materials, with masonry on the ground floor facade, and finely battened timber on the upper level of the home.

For this build, we have refined the design and materials to suit our client’s specific brief to omit the masonry and double down on the timber.

This new direction will see all external masonry removed, and instead feature timber cladding on the ground floor and vertical timber battens to the upper level. These materials form a palette that’s refined and contemporary yet relaxed and complementary to the home’s surroundings.

These design modifications were developed in collaboration with Auhaus Architecture, ensuring the integrity of the original concept remained intact while embracing a distinct new personality. The result is a home that feels grounded, perfectly suited to its beachside setting.
